Morning mentoring

The goal of the morning mentoring program is to transition elementary school students from their home to school by creating an academic and emotional interest in school through academic and social enrichment activities.

It's a wonderful program and the students love it!

The Why Can't We Make A Difference Morning Mentoring Program eases the stress of transitions for elementary school students.  Currently 21% of the school community is

currently enrolled in the Morning Program.

The goal of the morning mentoring program is to transition elementary school students from their home to school by creating an academic and emotional interest

in school through academic and social enrichment activities.

We want to create smooth transitions from home to school by creating an environment where students are provided the opportunity to increase their academic and

emotional interest in learning and in school.

The program is designed to start student’s school day off with a positive attitude.  Students arrive between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m. to a program that instills Harambee, a Swahili word which means "all pull together".  We lead our students in positive affirmations and teach through team building activities, athletic competition, incentives, and guest speakers.  In addition we provide homework assistance to students who need extra support.
